What is Technical Writing?
Technical Writing is the presentation of information that
helps the reader solve a particular problem.
The word 'Technical' in this case, refers to any information
that's not known or understood by the general public. It just means information
that's usually known only to experts or specialists.
Who is a Technical Writer?
A Technical
Writer is a professional writer who designs, writes, creates, maintains,
and updates technical documentation —including online help, user guides, white
papers, design specifications, system manuals, and more.
Where are Technical Writers required?
Computers,
stove tops, cameras and lawn furniture all need skilled writers to explain how
these things work and how to operate and maintain them. The
profession isn't concerned with writing about any one specific technical topic.
It's about writing on any topic which is technical and not easy to understand.

Companies,
governments, and other institutions typically hire technical writers not for
their expertise in a particular subject but for their expertise in Technical
